Andrew MacKintosh

Book Andrew MacKintosh

Andrew MacKintosh specialises in traditional Highland folk tales, although there is a smattering of tales from other Scottish traditions in his repertoire, and a selection of international tales.

Andrew’s interest in storytelling rose from a long-held belief that Scotland’s rich folk tale tradition is ignored in favour of others. He feels that to fully appreciate these tales they should be heard as originally intended – rather than read – to understand the living, personal experience that a storytelling performance can give.

Andrew has told stories in Highland schools, libraries and various fun days to audiences ranging in size from two to 200, in age from children to senior citizens. His philosophy is that everyone enjoys a good story well told. Andrew tailors his presentation to the needs of the audience. This can range from the traditional ‘stool and story’ approach to using props for a more theatrical performance.
