Ailie Finlay

Book Ailie Finlay

Ailie Finlay tells her own, unique sensory story adaptations of traditional tales from Scotland and around the world, with some of her own stories mixed in as well. Ailie uses delightful handmade puppets and intriguing props to bring her stories to life and to encourage people to join in. Her story sessions always include lots of rhyme, rhythm and games. She also loves to train people in the art of creating and telling sensory stories.

Ailie has specialised in working as a storyteller and writer with and for people with additional needs for many years. In 2020 she founded My Kind of Book a not-for-profit social enterprise that researches, promotes and creates books and stories for children with additional needs.

Born in the borders Ailie originally studied puppetry at the London School of Puppetry and then storytelling with Scottish storyteller, Janis Mackay. Organisations she has worked for include: National Museum of Scotland, Edinburgh International Book Festival, Edinburgh Science Festival, Scottish International Storytelling Festival, Scottish Puppet and Animation Festival, Scottish Book Trust, NHS Lothian, The Festival Theatre, Scottish Huntington’s Association and Sense Scotland.
