Book Pauline Cordiner

Born and raised in Aberdeen on the North-East coast of Scotland, Pauline discovered storytelling in 2001 when she began volunteering at Archaeolink Pre-History Park in Aberdeenshire. A few years down the line, she joined the Grampian Association of Storytellers as a committee member, and has been telling stories with them and on her own at local events and festivals ever since.

Her favourite stories to tell are traditional Scottish tales, folk tales from around the world, stories passed on by her family and some she has written herself.  She also enjoys using stories to raise awareness of science, history and the environment. Pauline also sings traditional songs and ballads, and has been privileged to learn from some of Scotland’s most respected traveller and folk singers. From her ten years at Archaeolink, she retains a strong love of prehistory and is one of the founder members of The Rhynie Wifies, an all-female Iron Age re-enactment group based in Aberdeenshire.

She loves to perform in costume and often uses instruments and puppets to engage with the audience. Pauline enjoys telling stories to groups of all ages and loves to encourage interaction with the crowd, bringing them into the storytelling experience.

The past few years have seen Pauline tell stories at a wide range of events and venues including the Glastonbury School of Performing ArtsCambridge Folk Festival,  Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival and many other music and folk festivals, NatureScot sites, National Trust For Scotland sites, Spectra Aberdeen, Aberdeen University, science festivals, libraries, museums, schools and care homes.  She has also taken part in shows on local radio, Radio Scotland’s ‘Out of Doors’ and ‘Out for the Weekend’ and Radio 4’s ‘The Town is the Menu’.

During the Covid pandemic, Pauline focussed on bringing stories and songs to a digital audience by performing online for various customers through her own channels, the World Storytelling Cafe and working on story and music collaborations with Musica Workshops.
