Inspired by traditional stories about giants from Celtic, Nordic and world folk traditions, storytellers Alice Fernbank and Svend-Erik Engh bring you …

GIANTS for primary schools, a performance and workshop experience!

Stories are told to the children from the giant’s perspective, in a dynamic interactive performance which explores their adventures, their conflicts, their kindness, and their sorrow. Children meet Viking and Celtic Gods, wise women and witches, princes and priests, in their encounters with giants.

Using stories from the performance, children experience a workshop where they re-create scenes from the stories and become characters and storytellers.

Children work with partners, in small groups, and as a whole class during the workshop. They experience performing for each other and they watch each other’s work as an audience.

The workshop uses drama and storytelling games and exercises, offering inspiration for post workshop class activities.

My class were extremely engaged with the storytelling performance and they were very enthusiastic about adopting the different roles of the Viking characters and re-creating scenes from the story…Both Svend and Alice facilitated this both beautifully and professionally.  They demonstrated a lovely way with the children they were working with.” (Avril Rodger, P6 Teacher at Lawfield Primary School, Midlothian)
