Janet Macinnes

Book Janet Macinnes

Janet Macinnes tells Scottish traditional stories, with a great interest in Traveller Tales and a growing deposit of stories from other countries.

Her strength is enthusing and involving the audience in the stories, while her open, friendly style and dramatic skill creates a sense of occasion wherever she tells. A keen sense of humour surfaces in even her scariest stories while her love of words and joy in sharing them bubbles through every performance. Janet enjoys telling to audiences, small and large, young or old. Storytelling has been part of her life since her days as a student nursery-nurse in the 60’s.

Originally from Ayrshire, Janet came to Easter Ross via the Isle of Skye. She is also a writer and following her Writer-in-Residency in Orkney, was awarded a six-month Storytelling Fellowship in Fife, one of the duties of which was organising a Storytelling Festival in various venues across the Kingdom. She has been involved in several cross-art collaborations with visual artists, musicians and dancers. Janet has toured the UK and told stories in schools, libraries and various venues, as well as leading workshops for teachers, librarians or anyone else wanting to tell stories, and always happy to travel where and whenever required.
