Jimmy Williamson

Book Jimmy Williamson

Jimmy Williamson tells the stories and traditions of the Scottish Travelling people. His repertoire includes Jack tales, wonder tales, seal stories, Brownie stories and fairy stories. These are often interspersed with songs of his own making, mostly about Travelling life. Jimmy is at home with all age groups of children and adults, and is happy to tell stories and sing to anyone who cares to listen.

Born in Fife in 1951, the greatest influence on Jimmy’s storytelling is his father, Duncan Williamson, who was internationally known as a great storyteller and bearer of his tradition, as was his maternal grandmother, who passed on some of the great old tales to her grandson.
