Book Joanne Marr

Joanne Marr is an experienced and gifted storyteller, with a background in Community Arts, and has many years of experience working with diverse groups of all ages and abilities, including deaf groups. She has completed Levels 1, 2 and 3 in British Sign Language (BSL). One of her specialisms is working with people with additional and complex support needs.

Joanne worked for The Village Storytelling Centre in Glasgow for 5 years during which time she developed and delivered many diverse projects. These include a story gathering project with Sunshine Recovery Cafe who support people in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction, an employability project with people with learning disabilities, and a project to improve and support literacy, language and bonding in newly arrived refugee and asylum seeking families.

She has a fantastic ability to reach people of all generations with her enthusiasm and unique delivery style. Joanne loves to tell stories with strong female characters in them, old tales with a modern twist, Scottish tales, and those from further afield. Joanne is equally comfortable with telling to audiences of all ages and abilities, including those with profound disabilities.
