Book Millie Gray
Millie Gray is a writer and professional storyteller who has the honour of being ’Arts Champion for Older People in Scotland.’ Millie’s interest in storytelling grew out of ‘people watching’. She has a flair for recounting family life tales in humorous ways and has dramatised local historical stories handed down to her by her mother and grandmother for her own telling. She also delights in telling tales of the Western Isles and their communities.
Millie was born and bred in Leith where she absorbed the memories and jovial spirit of that locality, and she regularly tells stories to adult audiences and children’s storytelling clubs. For thirty years she has been a frequent visitor to the isle of Eriskay, in the Outer Hebrides, which fuelled her love of the isles and their way of living.
Millie’s warmth, informality and abundant humour make her an ideal community storyteller, after dinner speaker and fund-raising entertainer who imbues her renditions with wit and sharp insight.
