Book Greg Dawson Allen

Aberdeenshire born, Griogair lives in the Highlands of Scotland (Lochinver in NW Sutherland) and has followed a creative path with a deep sensitivity for the art gathering material, orally and visually.

Griogair always adapts his stories and structure of his workshops to suit the individual’s or group’s needs and can work with all ages and accommodate all abilities.  His approach embraces and supports group collaboration.  Griogair also runs workshops on the art and importance of storytelling in Scotland and delivers these specifically to staff and parent groups in schools and community groups.

Sought after as an ‘after dinner’ speaker & storyteller, Griogair can shape his repertoire for all occasions and can prepare unique events working collaboratively with his audience.

Griogair also runs ‘story walks’ through the landscape of Assynt; combining the environment with the folklore and beliefs of the people in past settlements. He also likes to introduce natural elements such as stone and gnarled wood to aid his storytelling, ensuring that his tales are often multisensory and always engaging.

Griogair describes himself as:  “A ‘guide’ and through using our senses and imagination we explore, freely, unharnessed from discriminatory and cultural restraints, to finding ours and other stories to share.”

Griogair also officiates at HAND FASTING ceremonies – the ancient practice of Hand Binding in which a betrothed couple confirm their commitment to each other through a ribbon binding ceremony.
