Message from Making Music’s Emma Campbell

Hello to members of the Traditional Music Forum,

I’d like to invite Forum members to find out more about joining the UK’s number one organisation for music makers. We help to make running a music group of any type as easy, effective and rewarding as possible.

Making Music is a UK-wide charity that supports and champions voluntary music groups of all kinds. We work with 3,000 groups representing over 200,000 players, singers and promoters. Our members in Scotland include the Scottish Fiddle Orchestra, Aberdeen Strathspey and Reel Society, Stranraer Folk Club and the Cowal Fiddle Workshop.

Joining Making Music gives you access to a huge range of financial, artistic and administrative services to make it easier for you to organise and promote your music activities. The benefits of joining Making Music include:

• Training and events, on topics like how to promote your group and events, how to develop your audience and membership, and how to fundraise.

• Opportunities to get involved with Making Music projects, such as the chance to work with a young composer who will write a new piece specifically for your group.

• Guidance on a wide range of topics, like establishing your group as a charity and managing performing rights through PRS.

• Access to highly competitive insurance cover, tailor made for music groups. If you organise events or rehearsals then our very popular cover will give you confidence that your events, trustees, members and audiences are protected.

• Support and advice from a dedicated team by phone, email and in person.

Thanks very much, and I hope to speak with you soon.

Best wishes,

Emma Campbell
