Scots Language Centre keen to engage with singers & singing projects
The Scots Language Centre was founded to do everything possible to promote the Scots language. Scots is one of three native languages spoken in Scotland today, the other two being English and Scottish Gaelic. There is a long history of Scots language in many diverse kinds of song.
The Scots Language Centre website has a lot of resources for singers and those interested in the study of Scots song. There is information about collections of songs and many examples to hear. Whether your interest is songs from a particular geographical area such as The Scottish Borders, or certain types of singing, such as the songs sung by soldiers in wartime, there is certain to be something of interest.
SLC is also interested in hearing of new Scots language song projects and are keen to share these on social media or the website. With thousands of followers on Twitter and Facebook, this can be a helpful promotion avenue for singers and musicians. Please message or Tweet us and we will share your work, events or activities.
