Burns Night message from Fiona Hyslop, Cabinet Secretary for Culture and External Affairs
Fiona Hyslop, Cabinet Secretary for Culture and External Affairs, was welcomed to the Scottish Storytelling Centre to view current exhibition, , by one of Scotland’s leading contemporary artists Calum Colvin, and share a Burns Night message to celebrate Scotland’s son, who is synonymous with Scottish identity.
The exhibition is part of the Scottish Storytelling Centre’s annual celebrations and just one of many exciting events taking place to celebrate Burns Night, which the Scottish Government is supporting, funded through the Scotland’s Winter Festivals programme. A total of £350,000 was invested to deliver 19 events across Scotland – from St Andrew’s Day on November 30 through to Burns Night on January 25.
“Robert Burns’s poetry, song, sentiment and commentary on the condition of humankind touched people, and continued to touch people the world over. The messages and observations in his poetry and songs are as relevant and heartfelt today as they were 250 years ago.”
