Live Music Now Yehudi Menuhin Centenary

The New York-born violinist Yehudi Menuhin may be remembered best as a musician, but he was also a dedicated human rights activist and founder of Live Music Now.

Branches of Live Music Now around the world will be remembering the man and his extraordinary legacy this year, as 2016 marks the centenary of his birth.

Live Music Now Scotland will be hosting three concerts in Edinburgh at The Scottish Arts Club. The first in the Menuhin Centenary Series will be on 22nd April (Yehudi Menuhin’s birthday) and features Scottish soprano Emily Mitchell and Maltese pianist Geoffrey Tanti, who met while studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and their partnership has blossomed from a great friendship. The second concert, on 20th May, will be performed by the duo of Calum Robertson (clarinet) and Juliette Philogène (piano), and the final perfomance will be from Wildings, a folk trio based in Glasgow, hailing from the far-flung corners of Orkney, Skye and Northumberland, made up of Jennifer Austin (piano), Fiona MacAskill (fiddle) and Sarah Hayes (flute, voice) on 17th June. Advance booking is advisable. If you’re interested, we’d love to see you there for some live music and a glass of wine!

22nd April: Songs from Above and Below
20th May: Calum Robertson & Juliette Philogene
