Work Placement Opportunity for Paid Project Coordinator with Off The Record for an 18-26 Year Old Seeking to Develop Career in Events Management or in The Music Industry
To celebrate the ‘Year of Young People,’ Born To Be Wide CIC is offering a nine month paid Project Coordinator position to oversee the delivery of two Off The Record days in Autumn/Winter 2018.
The events are supported by the Scottish Government’s Youth Music Initiative, which is administered by Creative Scotland, and we would like to hear from you if you are aged 18-26 and seeking to develop your career in event management or the music industry.
Reporting to the the Born To Be Wide CIC directors, the role will involve liaising with host venues, booking speakers and showcase acts, coordinating a promotional campaign, recruiting attendees and communicating with event partners. In addition you will also coordinate and consult with an advisory board from the target audience (anyone aged 16-26 interested in a career as a musician or in the music industry).
You should have experience of working on events and will preferably have attended a previous Off The Record or similar initiative (eg Exchange, Soma Skool). In addition to a passion for new music you should be reliable, well-organised, be motivated to learn new skills and have plenty of initiative to feel comfortable working unsupervised. However, mentoring will be provided by directors and the Born To Be Wide CIC team.
Preference will be given to self-starting individuals able to demonstrate practical experience over academic qualifications and/or work undertaken solely for the purpose of a course.
The role will be paid at the Living Wage of £8.75 per hour and will begin on 18 June, with interviews taking place in Edinburgh on the week beginning 4 June. It is expected to require two working days per week rising to four days during October and November. Most activity will be based in the Born To Be Wide CIC office but some travel to take part in outreach activity and meetings will be required.
To apply, please send a relevant CV and cover letter detailing your experience, why you think you would be suitable for the role and what you hope to achieve from it to hello@widedays.com by 5pm on Friday 25th May.
For those ineligible, or who do not feel the role is suitable, there will be opportunities to participate as event staff, volunteers and as advisory board members. Details of which will be announced in the coming months.
