RCS, Funded PG Learning & Teaching Programmes

These programmes are delivered on a part-time basis and offer a blend of face-to-face, online classes, peer group and one-to-one support. The bespoke and flexible model of delivery ensures that participants are able to study alongside and through their own professional commitments. The 180 credit programme provides unique opportunities for practising artists and teachers in a performing arts education context to upgrade their teaching qualifications and obtain a Masters qualification in learning and teaching that has been designed to develop teaching skills for the performing arts. In order to address the CPD needs of a diverse range of participants, we have 5 MEd pathways on offer and a further MA for Gaelic speaking arts practitioners:

Pathway 1: 2nd Subject Professional Registration in Dance (GTCS accredited)
Pathway 2: Career-Long Professional Learning (GTCS accredited)
Pathway 3: Teaching Artist
Pathway 4: Teaching Artist in Higher Education (HEA accredited)
Pathway 5: Initial Teacher Education in Dance (GTCS accredited)
MA Learning and Teaching (Gaelic Arts)

Participants will have the opportunity to work with personal supervisors, mentors and peers to engage in an exploration of their own art form and the learning and teaching practices that will help them enhance the experience of learners within their professional context. The programme culminates in a self-designed final project designed to allow participants to draw on their developed understanding of pedagogy and their own art form in the creation of a significant and meaningful piece of work.

We have a number of funded places available for Scottish domiciled applicants.

“The MEd has helped shape the way I see my future development as an artist and the importance of engaging in meaningful creative teaching methods.”
