Guisers

The ancient tradition of guising goes back centuries in Scotland, but has been in some ways neglected lately, with the American concept of ‘Trick-or-treat’ becoming more and more popular. It seems a great shame to forget about a tradition so jam-packed full of history, folk culture, and most importantly, fun!

So here’s some handy resources to help young and old alike reconnect with this shared past.

Why not start off with our introductory guising routine, which gives you a taster of the different guising traditions across Scotland in English, Gaelic and Scots? And then, if you come across anything you would like to explore further, we also have specific resources about the Scots, Galoshins and Oidhche Challuinn guising traditions.

We hope you enjoy these resources.
