Clàrsach Competitions on Skye looking for entries

Two New Competitions for Clarsach are looking for entries.

The Clan Donald Junior Clàrsach Competitions will take place on March 24th 2018 at 2pm in Armadale, Isle of Skye and entries are required by 3 March 2018. The first prize for each competition is £50 with entries being invited for Clàrsach with voice, Clàrsach duet with any other instrument, Own composition for clàrsach, and Clàrsach ensemble. The winner of The Kate MacDonald Memorial Prize for Best Junior Clarsach will receive £200 and a targe. For further info email maryashaig@gmail.com. The Clan Donald Lands Trust is delighted to announce its new Senior Clàrsach competition,  the Princess Margaret of the Isles Memorial Prize for Senior Clàrsach. The competition is generously supported by the Glencoe Foundation. The competition is open to adults aged 19 and over. Candidates should prepare a 25 minute recital, which should include a variety of Scottish styles, traditional and contemporary. A new composition by the candidate should be part of the recital. Four successful candidates will then be selected to perform at Armadale Castle in front of an audience and a panel of judges on 16 June 2018. The winner will receive a prize of £2000 and each of the 4 finalists will receive a £1000 appearance fee.
