Book Lilian Ross

Lilian Ross specialises in Scots Language, delivering workshops in Scots in a fun, interactive and engaging way to primary and secondary schools using storytelling, creative writing and song. Participants can expect a show with use of hand puppets; repetition, percussion instruments and song, or a combination of all.

Although based in the Highlands, Lilian has worked all over Scotland delivering Storytelling in Scots in a variety of settings and venues. Lilian also works on community projects, festivals and performs to adult audiences in cafe culture venues all over Scotland. Her adult storytelling is usually humour-based with most of the stories linked to or drawn from her traditional roots of rural Aberdeenshire, with ballads and poetry often woven into her performances.

Born in the heart of Buchan farmlands, Lilian is a Tradition Bearer: storyteller, singer-songwriter and poet. This follows a way of life of years past when, particularly at busy times of the year like harvest, neighbouring farmers would come to help take in the crop and a ceilidh would ensue in the evening, with stories and songs around the fire. On these occasions, Lilian’s mother always asked her to sing when there were visitors. Love of the tradition has run in Lilian’s blood all her life and she is very grateful for her heritage.
