Alistair McCulloch and Seán Gray

Alistair McCulloch and Seán Gray

Alistair McCulloch is one of the most sought after fiddlers in Scotland today, both as performer and teacher.  Alistair hails from Ayr and is one of the country’s best known fiddle performers, teachers and composers, with many appearances on radio and television. Past winner of many fiddle championships, Alistair is fiddle instructor at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and has tutored many of the new generation of rising stars. His versatility and breadth of repertoire have kept him at the forefront of the tradition for almost twenty years.

Alistair is accompanied on this tour by Seán Gray, one of our most successful former students. Seán plays flute, whistle and guitar, and since spending his sixth year here at Plockton, he has toured and played to audiences throughout the world, mostly with the award winning Paul McKenna Band. Seán was commissioned to write a piece of music for the highly respected New Voices concert series at the 2017 Celtic Connections festival held in Glasgow. He is soon to release his debut EP “The Waiting Room”.

Alistair and Seán will appear at Plockton Village Hall on Wednesday September 27th at 7:30 p.m., with support from the students of Sgoil Chiùil. Tickets, priced £10 and £8, are available on the door or in advance from 01599 544706.
