Steeped within a stunning catalogue of tracks comprising his acclaimed Strathglass Trilogy, you will find Duncan Chisholm’s distinctive sound of Scottish traditional fiddle music. Highly rhythmical and powerfully personal, this show combines traditional and contemporary tunes, gripping stories of Scotland’s ancient Chisholm clan lands and irrepressible humour. Duncan has worked hard to preserve his extended musical heritage in delivering his representation of colourful soundscapes to complement the majestic Glens of Strathglass in the Highlands of Scotland.
A mixture of textures, tones and atmospheres are always at the forefront of Duncan’s creative process while composing and arranging his music and he endeavours to fully represent this power during his live performances. Duncan will be joined on stage by; Matheu Watson on guitar, Jarlath Henderson on uilleann pipes / whistles. To give a stunning backdrop to Duncan and his core band this special performance will have an added dynamic of a three piece string section. This will allow Duncan to more fully represent a taste of the cinematic sounds heard on his most recent release ‘Live at Celtic Connections’ which received acclaimed reviews and has been awarded the ‘Album of the Year 2014′ at the recent MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards. Duncan has also been nominated in the ‘Best Artist Category’ in the Songlines Music Awards 2015.
Duncan will be joined on stage tonight by Greg Lawson (violin), Megan Henderson (violin/piano) and Su-a Lee (cello).
