The Festival is not that far off now, and the guest line-up is complete. Whirligig (the same band as last year’s Caper Band) is doing the Friday ceilidh again after last year’s gem. The Saturday concert features the dynamic young Paddy Callahan Trio; the incomparable Chris Wood; and the spellbinding group The Shee. Brian Miller is leading the song sessions this year and performing here there and everywhere around the Festival, as is this year’s Radio Scotland Young traditional Musician of the Year Claire Hastings. We also have a welcome return of Cera Impala and the New Prohibition, firm favourites in Moniaive after taking the Festival by storm last year. There is the usual programme of free children’s events, and sessions in every nook and cranny. As a new venture this year, for early comers there will be a free evening in the Craigdarroch on the Thursday evening 7 May featuring the dynamic young band 4 Square.
