Rura in Concert

Plockton Music School is delighted once again to be hosting the fabulous Rura, this time as part of their UK Autumn tour. Since bursting on to the Scottish folk scene just a few short years ago, RURA have quickly become one of the most sought-after bands of their generation and a hit at festivals throughout Europe, renowned for their rugged, energetic arrangements.

They have racked up an impressive array of accolades in their relatively short lifetime, including being voted ‘Best Up and Coming Act’ at the MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards 2011 and nominations for both ‘Folk Band of the Year’ (Scots Trad Music Awards 2012) and the ‘Horizon Award’ at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2013.

The band released their outstanding debut album, Break it Up, alongside Greentrax Records in March 2012 – produced by Lau/Kan fiddler Aidan O’Rourke and recorded by Iain Hutchison (Glow-worm Studios) the album was released to wide critical acclaim across the UK and Europe. Their second album Despite The Dark with producer Ali Hutton is now available.
