No stranger to the Tolbooth, Patsy Reid will be gracing us with her 4-piece band, unleashing new material as well as serving up traditional and contemporary tunes and songs from her highly acclaimed 2014 album, The Brightest Path. This, her 3rd solo album, was recently among Songlines’ Top 10 Scottish Albums as well as being nominated for best album in the 2014 Scots Trad Music Awards.
In the last couple of years the former Breabach fiddle player and singer has become one of the most in-demand musicians in folk, performing extensively and contributing violin, viola and cello to recordings by Donald Shaw, Kathryn Tickell, Bella Hardy, The Treacherous Orchestra and Duncan Chisholm to name just a few.
Combining skills and techniques from both folk and classical disciplines; Lau’s Aidan O’Rourke describes her as having “an accuracy and tone that many fiddlers only dream of. She has truly mastered her instrument.”
Recent highlights include performing alongside Dougie Maclean and Kylie Minogue at the 2014 Commonwealth Games Closing Ceremony, with tabla maestro Zakir Hussain at the London 2012 Olympics and in March 2015 touring North America with Zakir as part of an incredible line-up of Indian and Celtic musicians.
