Dr Richard Coaten leads a one-day workshop using arts therapy, dance work and practical movement, to improve the quality of life of people who are experiencing mental health problems, in particularly those with dementia. This course combines theoretical & practical movement with dance-based work and aims to inspire participants to become part of a ‘Community of Practice’ in an effort to grow this vital work.
The morning will cover a mixture of the theoretical and practical elements with the aim being to mix the 2 up. It will also touch on the question of the values that are so important in this work and the importance of Person-Centred Care.
The afternoon will focus on group-based working, the ‘how to’ side of it and will include live and recorded music, the use of a range of props etc.
Choose comfortable clothing and be prepared to move for a very practical day.
