Book Katie Proven
Katie is a storyteller who weaves tradition, music, and creativity into unforgettable experiences. Her passion lies in sharing stories that connect, heal, and inspire—whether they are ancient Scottish folktales, humorous children’s tales, or empowering narratives that resonate deeply with her audience.
Rooted in Scottish culture from an early age, Katie moved to England at 12 but never lost her love for the traditions of her homeland. She returned to Scotland to study English Literature at the University of St Andrews, where her belief in the transformative power of stories grew stronger. Today, she uses storytelling as a bridge—linking generations, cultures, and communities.
Katie’s work spans diverse settings: from lively school classrooms and care homes to festivals, ceilidhs, and conference dinners. Her background in business tourism and event management gives her a unique ability to engage visitors and corporate audiences, while her creative spirit shines in workshops for older adults and community groups.

Katie’s love for traditional music often enriches her storytelling. She has collaborated with award-winning fiddler Seonaid Aitken, blending spoken word with melody to create immersive, multisensory experiences. Her workshops for adults over 65—many with no prior writing experience—have unlocked hidden voices and stirred powerful memories, offering participants a deeply rewarding and cathartic journey.
She also works closely with people living with dementia, bringing joy and connection through stories in care homes and day centres. For Katie, storytelling is more than an art—it’s a way to illuminate lives and strengthen the threads that bind communities together.
