Highland Myths and Legends

Storyteller George Macpherson was only three years old when his grandfather placed him on his knee and told him a story. The boy then had to tell the story back, over and over, until his grandfather was satisfied that he had the facts straight. In this way, Macpherson learned stories from his family members, and later from people he encountered across Scotland and all over the world, making him a living bridge between the old tales and the modern age. Here, he collects just some of his stories, big and small, epic, legendary and whimsical, some of them over 2,500 years old.
