Dance Development Officer

Uist 18.5 hours per week Salary £21,000 (pro-rata 0.5 fte)

Ceolas offer an exciting post for an experienced Dance Artist Educator to develop dance within the community.   The post to cover the islands of Eriskay, South Uist, Benbecula, North Uist and Berneray.    The contract will initially be for a 12 month period.  The post holders will be required to travel extensively within the island communities and therefore use of a vehicle and a clean driving licence are essential. 

Some evening and weekend work will be required.

You will be a dance professional with at least 3 years experience. The ability to communicate a passion for dance is essential, as is a good knowledge of dance styles both traditional to this area, modern and classical. Equally important is experience in working with communities and the considerable administrative and motivational skills to run a project of this kind.

You will need good developmental and organisational skills.  A pleasant manner, diplomacy, and the ability to build up good relationships are essential.

Employment will be conditional on Enhanced Disclosure checks being made. Specific targets will be agreed with the successful candidate and progress report given regularly to committee meetings  

This should be in the form of your current CV, with a personal statement of no more than 200 words stating why you think you are the best person for the job, highlighting in particular your experience in the dance and dance administration field.
