New release: Scottish Borders tunebook and more

Taigh na Teud have several new releases to shout about, including ‘Traditional Scottish Fiddle Music of the Scottish Borders’.

This outstanding collection of traditional fiddle music from the Scottish Borders was recorded from the playing of Tom Hughes of Jedburgh between 1978 and 1980. The book and CD were compiled and transcribed by Peter Shepheard.

Although Tom’s style includes many characteristic Scottish elements, it is quite different from any mainstream fiddle style or the dominant fiddle style of Scotland’s North East. Through Tom’s playing we are able to gain an insight into an old, traditional, fiddle style stretching back through Tom’s family well into the 1800s.

A must for those looking for original fiddle styles, tunes and history.’

Other releases include The new Royal Conservatoire of Scotland’s Scottish Music Graded Exams in Accordion, and Leabhar a’ Phiana  Simple Gaelic Tunes for the Piano. Find out about all their new releases here.
