Piping and Clarsach Competition fit for Royalty

DONALD MACDONALD CUACH PIOBAIREACHD (PIPING) COMPETITION
15TH June 2018 @ CLAN DONALD, ARMADALE CASTLE, SKYE

Five pipers from across Scotland will perform in the annual competition named in honour of the revered 19th century piping pioneer. This year is the competition’s 32nd anniversary, and the pipers competing are Iain Speirs, Glenn Brown, Callum Beaumont (2017 winner), Alasdair Henderson and Craig Sutherland. The Judge is Allan Macdonald and singer is Christine Primrose.

The competition and performance takes place in the Stables (Gasta at Armadale Castle cafe). Tickets are £8 (£4 concession), including buffet after the performance. To book your ticket in advance please call us on 01471 844 305, or pay on the door (cash or cheque only please).

PRINCESS MARGARET OF THE ISLES CLARSACH COMPETITION
16TH JUNE 2018 @ CLAN DONALD, ARMADALE CASTLE, SKYE

Congratulations are due to Riko Matsuoko, Fraya Thomsen, Karen Marshalsay and Mairi Chaimbeul who have all made it to the final of The Princess Margaret of the Isles Memorial Prize for Senior Clarsach (UK) to be held at Clan Donald on Skye on 16th June. The competition will be live streamed and the judge is Savourna Stevenson. Each candidate will perform a 25 minute recital including a variety of traditional and contemporary Scottish styles, and their own new composition.
