NLS releases chapbooks revealing Battle of Waterloo
National Library of Scotland releases chapbooks revealing Battle of Waterloo
The 1815 Battle of Waterloo marked a climactic end to the Napoleonic Wars. To commemorate this decisive event, the NLS has released their collection of 78 chapbooks about Napoleon’s wars on the Digital Gallery. These cheaply printed booklets recount events from the late 1790s to the Battle of Waterloo. Mostly in ballad form, the chapbooks were all printed in Scotland.
They also offer opinions about Napoleon Bonaparte, Josephine de Beauharnais, Horatio Nelson and the Duke of Wellington.
