Paisley Arts Centre announces exciting Dance or Drama Artist in Residence opportunity
Renfrewshire Leisure, in partnership with Imaginate has been awarded funding from Creative Scotland to host a Drama or Dance Artist in Residence based at Paisley Arts Centre for a period of approximately one year, part time. The artist will embed themselves within the community, working with groups and partners across Renfrewshire to develop a fully realised performance aimed at young people age 5+ and their families. We are delighted to now be inviting applications for this exciting role.
The Artist in Residence will engage communities in creative activities in order to develop themes and content for a new performance work that reflects the culture, heritage and people of Renfrewshire. They will also work closely with selected local arts organisations, community groups, colleges and universities to offer workshop or master class opportunities.
The development of the final performance will be supported by a work in progress sharing and the residency will culminate in a full production which will be premiered at Paisley Arts Centre and tour to community venues within Renfrewshire in October 2018 (provisional date). This will be supported with a production budget and producing & creative team (to be appointed in consultation with the Artist in Residence).
Opportunities for presenting the production beyond the period of the residency could be explored by the appointed Artist and producing team.
The residency will be developed in partnership with Imaginate who will support the artist with regular mentoring and artistic feedback. In addition they will provide the Artist with a professional development package tailored to the artist’s needs which will include opportunities to see a range of work produced for children and families.
