Scotland the When – Destiny Stane
To mark the 700th anniversary of the Declaration of Arbroath, we are launching Scotland the When, a series of satiric or surreal stories about Scotland’s politics and culture.
The first story Destiny Stane recounts the rediscovery of the real – again – Stone of Destiny, in the midst of the Brexit stramash, hidden beneath the Westminster Parliament. Written by Donald Smith to recall those halcyon BC (before virus) days of Brexit delirium, Scotland the When will mix fiction and faction through treacherous times, while reminding us that humour retains a sure hold on sanity.
Future episodes will feature the trials of Alex Salmond, Creative Scotland, the anniversary of the Lockerbie bombing, a new massacre at Glencoe, and an archaeological heist in Galloway.
