Sing for Water 2015

Scotland Sings is back in Edinburgh on Saturday 27th June 2015 for its second Sing for Water event in aid of WaterAid. On a glorious sunny day in 2011, over 200 singers from across Scotland got together and raised £13,000 for the international charity that transforms lives by improving access to safe water, hygiene and sanitation.

Six songs from around the world have been chosen for their simplicity and impact: Amazing Grace; Ride this train; Elia Lrde; Ishe Oluwa; Kaki Lambe; and Thina Simunye. Everyone taking part will have access to sound files and written music in advance so that they can practise by themselves or with others.

Alison Burns, Scotland Sings Coordinator, said, “We had a fantastic day together at the last Sing for Water and I’m really looking forward to doing it all again. The great thing is that everyone can prepare in their own way before the day – in the car, at choir rehearsal or while walking the dog. We’re hoping to encourage 300 singers to join in and help us raise money for and awareness of WaterAid. It’s an excellent way to give something back to countries whose songs many choirs sing but who have no system of collecting royalties.”
