Shawfest back for a second year

Shawfest #2 will take place September 24th & 25th ’16. The inaugural Shawfest took place in September last year and was a great success. The aim of the festival is to raise funds for the Fraser Shaw Trust, which was set up in memory of a much loved guy and wonderful musician who passed away in May 2015 after battling with MS and eventually PML. The trust raises funds for MS charities through a range of projects celebrating Fraser and his music.

Festivities will kick off on the 24th in St. Peter’s Hall, Partick. There will be a craft fair, pottery and knitting demonstrations and facepainting. The festival is also delighted to host Dr. Libby McGugan, who is exploring a new field of intentional medicine. Libby will be running a workshop on “The Truth about Stress” – how Intentional Mindlessness can help restore ease, flow and resonance in life.

A silent auction stand will be in place, wherein festival goers can bid anonymously on some very exciting items. There will also be a festival raffle.

Make sure and bring your dancing shoes for some night time entertainment with the Blas Collective! On this occasion the band will consist of Jenn Butterworth, Adam Sutherland, Hamish Napier and Steve Foreman. Blas deliver stunning “off the cuff” arrangements of tunes and songs and there will be a few ceilidh dances thrown in for good measure! On support will be the lovely Carla Feuerstein with some German folk songs, and Seán Gray (Paul McKenna Band).

Tickets available on the door at £10 (£8 concession, £5 kids), doors open 2pm, refreshments provided throughout the day. Concert starts 8pm, BYOB.

On Sunday 25th the festivities will continue in The Sparkle Horse, Dowanhill Street from 6pm. Here, the silent auction winners will be announced and the raffle draw will take place. Drinks will be had, memories shared, and a toast made to the man himself, Fraser Shaw.
