SISF15 invitee Jawad el Bied joins Hyperborea in Edinburgh

Young Moroccan storyteller Jawad el Bied joins musicians Hyperborea for an Edinburgh house concert on Sun 20 Dec, presenting a captivating evening of stories and music from the Middle East.

Part of storytelling collective Hikayat Morocco, Jawad was originally invited to perform at the Scottish International Storytelling Festival in October. Unfortunately, travel issues meant the group weren’t able to attend, so we’re especially pleased to be able to welcome Jawad to Scotland this month.

On Sunday 20 December, Jawad will be joined by Hyperborea (composed of musicians Helena MacGilp, Chris Elmes and Florian Schmidinger) for an intimate performance of ancient stories intertwined with music from across the Middle East – a rare chance to discover one of Morocco’s most promising young storytellers and to experience the rich tales of North Africa.

The event takes place at 7pm (doors from 6.30pm) at 1F1, 25 Haddington Place, Edinburgh, EH7 4AF. Suggested donation of £5/10. Find more information on the Facebook event.

Hyperborea return to the Storytelling Centre with storyteller Marion Kenny on Saturday 6 February as part of the Middle Eastern Festival of Spirituality and Peace.
