Artful Minds – experiential dementia training for artists

Date: Monday 7 March 2016 9.30-17.00

Venue: The Studio at Festival Theatre, 22 Potterrow, Edinburgh EH8 9BL

Artful Minds is a new Hearts & Minds approach to engaging with people living with dementia. It is suitable for artists of all art forms. This experiential workshop aims to increase skills, confidence, influence creative responses, as well as giving ideas for translation into artistic practice. Artful Minds is an activity-based introduction providing an opportunity to explore and deepen understanding within a supportive workshop environment. The day is designed to suit artists already working with people with dementia as well as those who are curious to gain first insights.

Devised and delivered by Magdalena Schamberger, Artistic Director at Hearts & Minds, the training will focus on experiencing challenges associated with dementia and old age, encouraging the exploration of your given art form and reflection on how to develop your artistic practice in order to engage meaningfully with people with dementia.

To mark the launch of the Artful Minds programme we have 12 free places available to artists based in Scotland.
