SISF Showcase Receives Double CATS Awards Nomination

A production that came to fruition through the Scottish International Storytelling Festival and involved a year of tale gathering from Scotland is up for two awards at the Prestigious CATS Awards.

Tales of a Grandson was created and performed by Andy Cannon and produced by MacRobert Arts Centre, in association with the Scottish International Storytelling Festival.

In 2014, leading storyteller Andy Cannon decided to explore the story and create his performance Tales Of A Grandson as a contemporary response to Walter Scott’s classic history of Scotland, Tales Of A Grandfather, written to his young grandchild.

A visit to the Flodden Field on the 500th anniversary of The Battle of Flodden (Mon, 9 Sep 2013) signalled the beginning of his year long quest to explore and discover Scotland’s story. Andy would share small chapters as he progressed with the aim of culminating with a day-long epic storytelling experience performed at the Festival Theatre Studios as part of the Scottish International Storytelling Festival on 24 and 25 October 2014.

The nominations are for BEST PRODUCTION FOR CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE and musician Wendy Weatherby’s magic compositions are up for BEST MUSIC AND SOUND.
