Slanjayvah Danza call-out for Female Dancers

Slanjayvah Danza require 3 diverse and experienced professional female contemporary and percussive footwork dancers for the development and performance of their latest work, “6 Feet, 3 Shoes”.

Spain meets Scotland meets Yorkshire, “6 Feet, 3 Shoes” is an exploration of the traditional  arts in a contemporary context, drawing on multicultural dance, live music, and un/conventional storytelling. Full of feisty rhythmical dance, cultural references, and humour, “6 Feet, 3 Shoes”, celebrates friendship, community and an understanding of finding home away from home in a global society.

As “6 Feet, 3 Shoes” draws upon the traditional arts from Scotland and Spain, dancers will be required to have experience in 2 of the following:

  • Contemporary
  • Flamenco
  • Percussive step dance

It would also be beneficial, but not essential, for dancers to have experience/skills in:

  • Working with live musicians
  • Playing a musical instrument
  • Singing
  • The Spanish and/or Gaelic languages

A love for Feria’s and Ceilidh’s will also be appreciated.

Whilst the project spans Scotland, Spain and Yorkshire, this leg of the project is based in Leeds for the 4 week rehearsal period and 6-7 performances across Yorkshire, Cumbria and Edinburgh.

This is a paid position with a fixed fee for rehearsal and performance dates between between end September to mid November 2017.

Auditions will be held in Edinburgh on 10th of June and Leeds on 11th of June 2017, by invitation only.
