Book Renita Boyle
Renita Boyle has been described as ‘a remarkable storyteller – a powerball of imagination and inventiveness, who can keep young audiences spellbound and older listeners thinking.’
Her repertoire includes stories that are rowdy and reflective, traditional and tall. She has a fondness for moral tales and faith stories – personal and spiritual development. She is accredited in Godly Play and her published works include My Storytime Bible, Parachute Fun for Everyone and Parable Fun for Little Ones (Barnabas).
She supports LAPIDUS – Literary Arts in Personal Development – and facilitates both verbal and written exploration of memoir and poetry. Renita has featured at bonfires, book days and birthdays; clubs, camps and country parks; churches and schools, conferences and festivals; parents and toddler groups; libraries, guilds and gardens; retreat days and relays – not to mention a dentist’ office and a lift (to a truly captive audience!)
Renita is as passionate about training as telling and regularly facilitates workshops and residencies in storytelling, story writing and life writing. She enjoys A Curriculum for Excellence and uses a variety of methods to appeal across the learning styles; repetition, rhythm and rhyme; actions and audience participation; parachutes and puppets; music, masks and hats and book-making projects. She is also on the planning team for the Wigtown Book Festival.
Renita is a keen silly songstress and has been gathering stories and skills for most of her life. She grew up in America where her Great Grandfather was a lumberjack brim full of Paul Bunyan stories. She moved to Scotland in 1985 and continues to enjoy the rich global tradition of tale-telling. She has been known to make it rain, played the back end of an elephant and can play the bagpipe with her nose.
