Edinburgh’s Hogmanay are rebranding the popular Keilidh to the Old Town Ceilidh and relocating the event from the Mound Precinct to the historic High Street and Parliament Squares. 

One of Edinburgh Hogmanay’s most well-loved events, the traditional Scottish ceilidh event is a sell-out each year and has hosted 3,000 revellers annually with the very best in Scottish music, dance, food and drink on offer. Featuring live music from Cask Strength Ceilidh Band, Ceilidhdonia, Whisky Kiss and Sporran Again, experienced ceilidh callers will teach guests the dances as they join in with jigs and reels, all leading up to the Midnight moment and beyond.

The aim is to retain the Guinness World Record for the Largest Scottish Traditional Dance, using the 11pm teaser fireworks to signal the start of a collective, choreographed, Strip the Willow using the Royal Mile and the main dance area. 

Unique Events are looking for volunteers from the Scottish Dance community to assist throughout the arena encouraging participation, demonstrating the dance steps and providing event information. The event will be filmed by the BBC for broadcasting on their Hogmanay show after the event, volunteers will receive free entry into the event and Edinburgh Hogmanay merchandise.
