Volunteers sought for pilot music project

Music Pilot Project

Older People’s Services, The City of Edinburgh Council

This pilot is looking for volunteers to help deliver an exciting new project to share singing in older people’s services, including care homes and day services. Volunteers will sing with service users and help expand community involvement by engaging in a shared interest. We are looking for friendly and committed volunteers to bring their enthusiasm and talents. We would welcome singers, and other musicians who are flexible about what they sing and play!

Music and singing have been proven to have a positive effect on memory and wellbeing for people with dementia. We are aiming to provide an inclusive and enjoyable experience for service users with a variety of different support needs.

This is a pilot project with an initial commitment of six months, from 2 hours a fortnight. Exact times are still to be confirmed. Please get in touch and speak to us for more information.

All volunteers will take part in an induction to volunteering, will receive ongoing support and will be encouraged to share their experience and ideas. By contributing time and enthusiasm, volunteers can have fun, learn new skills and make a big difference to those who use our service.
