World’s Largest Ceilidh Band Attempt – Musicians Wanted!

The Stonehaven Folk Festival is celebrating its 30th year in July 2018 and are trying to get into the Guinness record books. More details available including where to register are available by clicking here.

Once registered a newsletter will be started to keep you all up to date.

You will need to be able to play at dance speed, but we will use standard session tunes such as the Mucking O’ Geordies Byre and Off to California, music will be provided beforehand, but you should aim to play without it on the day. Tunes will be in G or D. No formal audition required, but we will arrange a couple of practice get togethers before the event.

Note, as a rule musicians will have to stand, if you have access issues let us know when you register.

There will be three dances and dancers will be provided by the Scottish Culture and Traditions ceilidh dance class and friends.

We have the following instruments officially recognised – if you have something out of the ordinary let us know!

Guitar, Fiddle, Cello, Whistle, Flute, Mandolin family, Banjo, Bodhran, Mouthie, Free Reed Instruments, Accordion, Clarsach, Keyboard (but we may have limited space and power sockets!), clarinet, Saxophone (?), Ukulele.
