Professor Gary West’s Inaugural Lecture

Professor Gary West, Personal Chair in Scottish Ethnology at the University of Edinburgh will deliver his Inaugural Lecture, ‘Performing Testimony: towards a creative ethnology for the 21st century’ on Wednesday 30th November at 5pm.

As the School of Scottish Studies Archives at the University of Edinburgh reaches its 65th year, retirement is not in the plans. With a newly refurbished home at 29 George Square, we look ahead to the next phase of development of this key cultural hub with excitement and energy.

Drawing on several of the current research strands within the School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures, Professor West offers some personal reflections on the marriage of testimony and creativity as one potential way forward for an archive-centred ethnology for tomorrow. Expect some tunes and songs.
