Festive Family events at the Scottish Storytelling Centre

This month we have a festive selection of Christmas entertainment that will enchant the whole family, from gingerbread nativities and mischievous Christmas cakes, to festive adventures with Sydney the platypus and Lapin the French rabbit.

Tiny Tales: Gingerbread Nativity
Tue 10 Dec | 10am & 11.30am | £5 per child | Ages 1-3

Gingerbread Nativity at the Scottish Storytelling CentreOn Tuesday 10th December bring your toddlers along to our Gingerbread Nativity. Storyteller, Renita Boyle, will tell the Nativity story with the help of her tasty gingerbread characters and then you and your child can spend time together decorating a gingerbread man to take home with you. This interactive storytelling session is a great way to spend time together as a family

The 10am slot has now sold out but there are still a few tickets left for the 11.30am slot.

Platypus in Boots
Wed 11 Dec | 11am & 3pm | £8 (£6), £24 Family of 4 | Ages 3-5

Image for Platypus in Boots at the Scottish Storytelling Centre performed by Scottish OperaSydney the Platypus has travelled all the way from Australia to see snow for the first time, and he needs your help to show him around. Along the way you’ll encounter snowball fights, a Brussels Sprout Van Trap sing-a-long and a whole host of Glaswegian characters.

Created especially for 3-5year olds, Platypus in Boots is a fun-filled mix of music, comedy and puppetry based on the misunderstandings that can come from words – but is ultimately a celebration of differences. Take a look at these production pictures to see what’s in store and have a wee listen to these tiny members of the audience telling us about their favourite part of the show.

Lapin Wants to See Santa
Fri 20 Dec | 11am & 3pm | £8 (£6), £24 Family of 4 | Ages 3+

Lapin wants to see Santa at the Scottish Storytelling CentreOn Friday 20th December we have an interactive festive adventure with the adorable French rabbit, Lapin. Lapin and his puppet friends go in search of Papa Noel to invite him for a hot chocolate, but will he have time to accept the invitation? The show is performed in English but peppered with French words throughout the story.

It’s in the Bag
Sat 21 Dec | 10.30am (0-2 yrs) & 12pm (3-6yrs) | £6 per child

Christmas parties by It's in the Bag at the Scottish Storytelling CentreWe have a Christmas party on Saturday 21st December hosted by the netmums.com favourite children’s party duo, It’s in the Bag. There will be Christmas games, stories and songs that will put the whole family into the festive spirit. Have a look at their facebook page to find out more!

Please note that the 12noon slot (for ages 3-6year) has sold out and there only a few places left on the 10.30 session (ages 0-2)

Grinagog Theatre Presents: The Edibles
Mon 23 & Tue 24 Dec | 11am & 2pm | £8 (£6), £24 Family of 4 | Ages 3-7

The Edibles making a Christmas cake at the Scottish Storytelling CentreJoin us for a comical tale about life in a very special bakery at The Edibles, a Christmas show full of magical ingredients especially created for 3-7 year olds. Set in a gingerbread house bakery, three bakers whip up a delicious three tier cake, but a rather hungry mouse steals parts of the cake causing all sorts of havoc!

Stories Round the Tree

Stories round the Christmas Tree at the Scottish Storytelling CentreAnd Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas at the Scottish Storytelling Centre without Stories Round the Tree. On Friday 20th and Tuesday 31st December, get the family together and gather round our beautiful Christmas tree to listen to wintery tales and festive stories. This is a hugely popular event that will not only make you feel festive but is also great way to spend time together as a family.
