Fringe 2018: Q&A with Zen Gwen on Mindful Disco

How would you describe your show in one sentence?

Mindful Disco partners up Dance and Mindfulness, brings them on to the dance floor, to let the joy ignite.

Is this a new show or have you performed it elsewhere?

It’s a new dance event.

What’s your favourite thing about the Fringe?

We have lived in Edinburgh for many years. Our favourite thing about the Fringe is the spectacle of creative life that spills out onto the streets and invites you to see beyond the norm.

How have you been preparing for the Fringe? How has the show developed/changed since your original idea?

We have taken our raw idea of Mindful Disco and its core intention, played around with it and let it develop and speak for itself. If anything, it has changed to become a bit more sparkly and shiny!

What do you think sets your show apart from all the other Festival offerings?

An interactive event combining Mindfulness and Dance – as far as we’re aware, this the only such event at this year’s Fringe.

What’s the show that you don’t want to miss at this year’s Fringe?

Ah yes, there will be many. We love a bit of acrobatics, so Sisters by The 7 Fingers is a must.

If your show was a place in Edinburgh, which place would it be and why?

Water of Leith pathways. It’s at the heart of where we live and how we move about.  It’s a beautiful world of its own, being restorative and functional all at the same time. It flows!
